Community

What is a community?

The word “community” is derived from the Latin word “communis”, simply meaning “things held in common”. We believe that communities are the center of society; they bind people together under a common banner with a common focus or goal.

A community has potential to be a strong social structure, bringing together citizens from all walks of life and contributing to greater national efforts. Our focus is community safety. Without safety, many societal elements that we rely on, and those that contribute to growth and social capital, would be in endangered.

Community safety involves a barrage of issues–political, social, judicial, etc–which must be identified, assessed, discussed and resolved. We therefore are at the forefront of political activism in relation to identified issues. We host many events which look to discuss, debate and question these issues, including that of special interest. These debates are open to the community, and we believe they are in the communities best interests.

We lobby politicians, conduct and fund research studies, conduct our own polling and statistical gathering, write articles and presentations, and educate our members on safety concerns. You can find out more about this by clicking on the “Projects” tab.

You can use the calendar to the right in regards to our upcoming community and members-only events. You can also find events posted on our official Facebook page.
